She's So Fluffy!

For those that don't have that quote ("It's so fluffy!") etched in their brains from countless times of watching Despicable Me; here you go.

Kids From The Hood

|
With a little impromptu neighborhood meet-up at our small town carnival down the street, the kids had a few moments to get away from us annoying adults and have some real conversations.

Doing the Ferris Wheel Thing

Jax has turned into somewhat of a roller coaster junkie.  When he was younger, he was afraid of EVERYTHING.  His shadow, a bug, the dark, the light, strangers, and any attention.

Most of those fears have subsided by now (expect the bugs) and he loves him some carnival rides.

Those Summer Nights...

|
Grab a dictionary, flip to "Summer Nights", and tell me if this is what you find:

Small town.  Sun setting over a small mountain.  Hot and humid.  Traveling carnival with rides, games, and food.  And a Hawaiian shirt clad band composed of 40+ year old men singing Black Crows songs with an occasional Beach Boys thrown in for grins.

Friends from Texas made a road trip up to see us and we took them to see the non-touristy parts of Maryland.  A carnival was traveling through Burkittsville, MD (where portions of the Blair Witch Project were filmed) so we showed them how we do our summer nights up here.

Editor's Note:  Just so you can sleep tonight; the Blair Witch never showed up - maybe we left to early...

Give the kid a shovel, and the hours just melt away...

The hole ended up being about 32" deep by the end of the day.

American Style

Some day, I will live at the beach.  And when I say at the beach, I mean within walking distance of an ocean.  Until that point, my dream is tucked away nicely in vacations to the beach.

Celebrating the 4th of July with Robyn's side of the family at the beach was a nice way to keep those dreams alive.

When you think of Delaware, you don't think of beaches, but they have some great spots that are an easy drive from where we are.
