River Walkers

Tracking Dinosaurs & Killin' Time

|
Stir crazy and ready to get out of the house for a few hours, we loaded the crew up and headed southwest to Glen Rose, on a whim, to find some river water and dinosaur tracks.

After a brief stop at one watering hole, that was way too crowded for our taste; we decided to just start driving down the two lane country roads looking for our next stop. After a few trips around Glen Rose, a few spontaneous decisions, and a few wrong turns - we ended up at Dinosaur Valley State Park.

Crisp cold water no more than waist deep was just what the doctor ordered.

Waking up with no plans and ending up relaxing in some beautiful scenery...a good way to spend a lazy Memorial Day.

The Art Of Picnic

|
The Kimbell Art Museum lawn is the patch of green space amongst the concrete jungle in the cultural district of Fort Worth.

This little spot is hard to beat. View of the museum, easy access, lots of room, great lawn for kids, and free.

Just A Small Town World

|
Downtown Cannon Beach is just about as close to perfect as you can be for a town. Mountains to your east, beaches to the west; all surrounding a pedestrian focused downtown with art galleries, candy shops, small pubs and coffee shops.
Since fine art and children don't go well together nor do pubs and toddlers, we opted for the candy shop to spend some time. Bruce's Candy Shop has homemade chocolates, salt water taffy, kettle corn and handmade knick-knacks - your average small beach front town candy shop.

Beach Road Trip

|
Our day road trip to Cannon Beach was not our typical beach trip. Usually, we are headed for warm sand, sunny skies, and a minimal amount of clothing. Cannon Beach was different, but still one of the best beach trips we've had. A cold front blew into the area once we arrived, which forced us all to keep on our windbreakers and hoodies and reach for our coffees.

5th Birthday For Kostas

|
What's better than a vacation to see great friends? A birthday party thrown in the middle of the trip that allows us to meet our friend's friends and our kids to meet their kids.

Greatest part...everybody gelled well together. Couldn't have planned it better.

Riverside In Portland

High Above The City

|
One of the most unique spots in Portland, has to be the gondola type tram you can take from the OHSU Center for Health & Healing and head up hill and over the highway to the Shriner's Hospital.

Used as a mass-transit tool, the gondola adds a unique little trip for all. From the gondola you can board the many electric street cars (which Fort Worth is trying to get implemented into their transportation plans) and head into downtown. Numerous bike and jogging paths and trails allows for a view of the city, the people, and the local shops.

Hold On Tight, Kiddo.

The boys went for a quick drive around the neighborhood, I think Jaxson got more than he bargained for at the end when Kostas tail-whipped the jeep to an abrupt stop.

Farming The Market

|
First morning in Oregon, visiting some friends for a long weekend, the local farmer's market in Sherwood was in full swing. Food vendors, local growers and artists, donuts, and the greatest falafel sandwich that ever crossed these lips.
