Sometimes the generation gap is blurred, sometimes it is clear cut. Sometimes you're not sure if you old, young, or somewhere in the middle.
Frederick has a fairly new skate park not too far from us. It's in a fairly normal neighborhood on the west side of town. Today, the park was transformed into a skating exhibition for the one-and-only Tony Hawk.
A few months ago, I remember reading online he was headed to Frederick, one stop on a multi city tour, promoting skateboarding and his company,
Birdhouse. An ad on the radio caught my ear this afternoon saying he was in town and at Hillcrest Skate Park.
With Jax, and his new found love for skateboarding (except for the actual physical skateboarding part) we headed to check it out. I was completely surprised at the turn-out and community involvement. Never did get to meet the
Bird Man himself; but we did get some free posters.
